FLATS OVER: AN ESSENTIAL ASPECT OF HOLIDAY SAFETY With the December holiday season looming – and with South Africa’s poor road safety record – now is a good time to consider keeping your family safe during long road trips. Poor roads, pot-holes, obstacles in the road and even, in the worst-case scenario, gun-shots, can cause punctures, flat tyres and blow-outs. All of which could lead to your family being stranded on the side of the road for an indefinite period of time, in a situation that spells danger. And on the open road, even flat tyre protection systems offered by some motor manufacturers may not offer enough mileage to get you and your family to safety. In the event of a vehicle’s tyres being compromised in any way, the FLATS OVER system offers:
FLATS OVER has been ballistics tested, and also tested off-road at over 100km/h with no pressure in the tyres at all.In all these test scenarios, vehicle handling was consistent and reliable. Even on short trips – dropping off kids at school, popping out for some groceries, swinging by the gym – FLATS OVER helps keep your family safe. Punctures and blowouts can happen anywhere. With FLATS OVER, you are assured that your family can reach a place of safety quickly and confidently. How does FLATS OVER WORK? Solid rubber inserts are fitted to the hub of the wheel, inside the normal tyre. These heavy-duty rubber belts have high-tensile steel cables, which are positioned on the wheels and tightened by a ratchet. The normal tyre is then fitted and inflated. Then, the gap between the ends of the two belts is aligned with the air valve. Should the tyre deflate, the weight of the vehicle is carried on the FLATS OVER system’s solid rubber layer. Even if the tyre comes off the wheel, the FLATS OVER system will remain attached to the rim and protect the wheel. The FLATS OVER system also protects vehicles’ rims by absorbing 90% of the impact of pot-holes, thereby also saving the tyres from sidewall damage. Need to know:
